Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really need the adapter for my HELIX 9?
Yes. The port on the back of all HELIX units is a small, rectangular proprietary plug. The AS EC 10 cable has a round, threaded metal connector. The AS EC QDE dongle converts the square HELIX port to the round Ethernet port. You cannot plug this cable in without it.
Can I link a HELIX and a SOLIX?
Yes. You connect this cable directly to the SOLIX, and use the adapter dongle to connect the other end to the HELIX. They can share waypoints and some sonar data, but they cannot share map cards (Map sharing is SOLIX-to-SOLIX only).
Is 10 feet long enough for a bow-to-console link?
On a small aluminum boat or tiller, yes. But for most 17-20ft bass boats or walleye boats, the routing path through the gunwale takes up a lot of slack. We usually recommend the 20ft (AS EC 20) or 30ft (AS EC 30) cable for bow-to-console networking to be safe.
