Humminbird AS GPS NMEA - Splitter Cable (SOLIX / APEX / ONIX)
720080-1Compatibility:
Split Your Data Port
Unlike the HELIX series, Humminbird's high-end SOLIX, APEX, and ONIX units feature a single combined accessory port for both GPS and NMEA 0183 data. If you want to connect both an external GPS puck and a legacy NMEA 0183 device (like a VHF radio or autopilot) to the same head unit, you need the Humminbird AS GPS NMEA (720080-1).
How It Works:
This specialized "Y-cable" plugs into the accessory port on the back of your unit and splits into two pigtails: one female connector for your Humminbird external GPS receiver (AS GRP or AS GPS HS), and one set of bare wire leads to splice into your NMEA 0183 device.
- NMEA 0183 Only: This splitter cable provides bare wires for older NMEA 0183 connections. Do not confuse this with NMEA 2000, which requires a completely different drop cable and backbone system.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need this if I just want to plug in a GPS puck?
No. If you only want to plug in a Humminbird external GPS receiver (like the AS GPS HS heading sensor) into your SOLIX or APEX, you can plug it directly into the accessory port on the back of the unit. You only need this splitter cable if you are trying to plug in the GPS puck and an NMEA 0183 device at the same time.
Will this work for my NMEA 2000 outboard engine data?
No. This cable specifically breaks out the older NMEA 0183 data format (bare wires). If you are trying to view NMEA 2000 data (like Yamaha or Mercury engine gauges), you need to connect your unit to an NMEA 2000 backbone using the specific NMEA 2000 drop cable for your SOLIX or APEX.
Does this work on a HELIX 10?
No. The HELIX series uses different connectors. A HELIX unit provides a dedicated port for GPS and a separate pigtail on the power cable for NMEA 0183. This AS GPS NMEA splitter (720080-1) is specifically engineered for the single-port design of the SOLIX, APEX, and ONIX models.
